I've treated myself to the Morgan - and I'm also thinking I should treat myself to a decent number plate for it.
When I saw the car it had black and silver plates on (as you may have seen in the piccies I posted) - and that looked rather good I thought. A timeless car with dateless plates. But unfortunately the previous owner want to keep that reg and so the car is currently back on it's original 188 F-reg number.
I'd like to change the number but I am not going to pay silly money - £500 tops. I'd like your opinions ('cause I cannot make up my mind).
Thanks in advance.

I can't vote on this becuase I think it is asking for far too simplistic an anwer to a totally subjective question. I have one but that's because I am a megalomaniac. For others, surely the reasons are so diverse that it is, afrer all, a purely personal thing? regards, G

I'd agree with Gerwyn here.
Never bought a special plate. Thought about having my amateur radio call sign, but I'm not into throwing money away.
As far as we know the plate on my 4/4 is original. One of my Prescott colleagues keeps saying I should change it, but her son was killed a few years ago in a collision with a deer. It gives the guy on traffic, just up the road, a bit of amusement every time he sees it.
Cheers,

I am not keen on plates that relay what the car is: MOG on a Morgan or BMW on a BMW etc but like clever personal registrations that make you think.

A dateless reg would be better if you want black and white plates. Still illegal, but unlikley to get anyones attention I would have thought?

I'm not keen on spending on plates but have been quite lucky. The plate on the Roadster came with my 1980 BGT, when "1V" plates were normal issue. When I saw it, I liked the straight lines. Sad but true. 'NKH 1V', and at that time it was on a smaller than standard plate. So it cost nothing, (and means nothing), and when the BGT was sold I put it on the Golf until the Morgan came along. But then it got complicated because the Morgan came with C2 GBW. I thought about selling that, but decided to put it on MrsW's Polo. So that was two meaninless plates for nowt. Then in a rush of blood to the head I bought V11 NKH for the Golf...........I think it was £500. The 'V1' alternative was too much hard earned.... for somebody with a Yorkshire disposition.
I like to see pre 62 six digit (or less) plates on black/silver, whether ABC 123, 123 ABC, AB 1234, or 1234 AB.

Ah Dave it's a well known fact that the best numbers aren't always the most expensive!

Neil
The MNZ registration is a Northern Ireland original number, usually there is a an additional transfer charge when this is used on a GB based vehicle, hopefully this is already factored into the price. I have gone for an interesting number rather than something that has meaning, consider it like modern art 11G1161
