I begin to wonder if retirement is really a good idea.

Rest in Peace, Seeker.

Couldn't agree more Peter - my father went pretty much the same way 10 years back. Very sad to hear indeed. Keep busy out there people....

It is such a shock when Conrad last posted on this forum at 03:29 UK time on the 7th October which would have been 21:39 on the 6th, Chicago time

I notice on his funeral arrangements it says he died suddenly on the 7th

Very sad - my condolences to all his family and close friends

I'll be 67 in 6 more days. I plan on working until January 1st 2020. I work in a fairly stressful industry, not like a cop by any means, but day to day stress none the less.

As far as working further on, I'll take my chances and retire anyway... My dad made it to 95, so I stand a fighting chance.

I grew up in Michigan and of course MI has/had tons of automotive factories. Back in the '60s, the average lift expectancy after retirement was 2 years. It must have been a rough job working in the auto factories.

Even though Conrad's life was cut way too short, he really enjoyed his M3W and that showed in his posts and pictures with his wife.

Sounds like Conrad was with us pretty close to his calling. Hope he's at peace now.
