I believe that on the Morgan shimmy can be in part caused by too much positive scrub radius. That is to say the distance at the road surface between the axis of the kingpin and the centre of the tyres contact patch. As the tyres get wider from say the 4/4 on up to the more powerful cars the srub radius increases and my feeling is that the cars with the wider tyres can therefore be more likely to have shimmy problems if the geometry of one side is not identical to the other.

If the shimmy is cyclical on bends it may be the out of balance or out if true wheels going in and out of phase. It doesn't take much to generate a slight shimmy.

Just arrived in Pembroke dock for 02.45 ferry back to the Emerald Isle. Suplex rear suspension fitted and initial view is that it is a really good "mod" - ride is definitely more comfortable - thoughts on handling need further mileage.
Also need some sleep!!!!!

Finally after various chores and a rain shower it was off in the godess , made it to the main road and planted right foot a bit too firmly on the right pedal and ....back tyres squirmed scarily till the diff corrected the sideways slithering !! Must be careful !
