What recommendation does anyone have for cleaning engine and engine bay? In the past I've used Gunk but I don't really know why I chose that brand - probably because that's what they had in Halfords. I remember the Gunk process as being rather messy and wasteful though because it's a very liquid formula that splashes, drips and runs all over the place without having a chance to do any work. Are they foaming or gel alternatives now? Are they any good?

Thanks in advance
Neil

Neil,
I've tried AutoGlym's engine stuff and always found it good but I've recently gone over to Meguiar's Engine Clean and Engine Protect and it does an excellent job- price about 8 quid a bottle

My Dad (rest his sole) said don't clean an engine the muck's good insulation and an engine needs to be warm - - -mind you he was driving an Austin 12 at the time - - he had a 1/3 share in a Morgan three wheeler though in the mid 30's and all three of them went right round the UK - so maybe he wasn't too daft!
Sorry - not much help!
