Hi there
My brakes seem to be working perfectly, however the brake lights are very slow to come on/ require a hard push rather than coming on when you touch them.
Is there an actuator switch as at a glance cant see one by the pedal to adjust.
Thanks in advance
Tom

Likely a hydraulic switch in the brake line Tom.
Usually mounted a little above the master cylinder...

Thanks smile

Actually on later cars they are often in front of the master cylinder low down just above the chassis flange, easy to spot if you trace the two wires down to the pipe work union.

Actually if you have the new switch ready and are fairly quick there is no need to bleed the brakes as fluid will dribble out and the miniscule amount of air in the switch body is irrelevant, what is key is ensuring the new switch has a copper washer on it or swap the one over from the switch you remove.

I had a 4/4 2004 model and it had the same symptons, it required a new hydraulic switch which I believe was in the offside under the bonnet near the chassis, I believe a better alternative is to fit an electric switch in the pedal box, more reliable.

I may well follow that advice and get an electric switch fitted instead as would prefer it for ease of replacement.

Just an update in case people search at any stage as hate the answer not being written on posts like this.
I fitted a new lucas hydraulic switch and all is back to working perfectly.
Cheers Guys. smile
