Can anyone give me the resistance value of a '70 4/4 ballast resistor for a car with a 1600 cc Kent cross flow engine. Mine seems to have taken a turn for the worse and often won't allow the engine to run once the ignition switch is released.

They are normally around 1.6 Ohm Have a look on Ebay, lots of Lucas coils with new ballasts for not very much money

Don't know what the resistance is Marcus but it's off a Ford Transit assuming you have the white rectangular ceramic one.

Okay, I'll go with a unit in the 1.5 ohm range. It should work okay.

Just bypass it and fit a normal coil.
Added - gives one a lot more choice and makes a lot of electronic ignitions possible.
