I recently ordered a M3W in Night Race Blue Metallic (a Corvette color, very dark blue), Tan leather, Bright pack, Mohair tonneau, Heated seats, Tall roll hoops with headrests, Footwell storage box, and Rear mudguard. I'll have the dealer fit a Fairbourne Carriages Windscreen when it comes in and probably a Moto Lita wheel.

But now I'm having second thoughts about the tall roll hoops (which would be chrome) and headrests. Any of you folks care to share your opinions or experience on either function (ie. do the headrests change the air-flow at all for better/worse, or impact over the shoulder rear visibility) or form (look great! vs. butt-ugly!).

I've not viewed them in person, but they look decent in the pictures I've seen. So I'm soliciting opinions from all fronts

Never had a desire to rest my head in this contraption. Visibility is my main concern. Situational awareness is everything! I also use the hoops as handholds to get in and out of the car. The head rest would hinder that as you couldn't wrap your fingers around the bar. I installed the luggage rack with non standard removable clamps that would not work with the cushion. I also like the height of the regular hoops in relation to the car.

Other caveat is that when you are parked out in the weather the tonneau cover won't cover these at all.

there is a dealer in Charlotte, NC with a 2013 Red M3W with the bigger padded hoops. This dealer bought two units into the states, my orange unit and this red unit which has not sold yet.
maybe it's the padded hoops?

I suppose I could always swap-in the standard roll hoops if I really decided I didn't like them. I'm assuming they are bolt-in?

Life is all about personal choice, decide the factors and it makes the decision. I have the taller hoops. My decision was based on sitting in a car with normal hoops and realising that the top of the hoop would smack you square in the centre of the back of your head in the event of a shunt. they are supposed to be there to reduce whiplash - with the standard hoops I think whiplash would be the least of your worries! Its not possible to rest your head on them - even wearing a helmet.
The cover sits in front of them so only a car cover might not fit - never been a great fan of car covers as they don't always allow a damp car to dry.
They don't really cause a blind spot in my experience, but everyone is different. Sit in one and see if the restricted vision of the taller ones is a bigger issue than the potential injury from the low ones

I've had the Aussie hops for 6 months now. As MOG said the tonneau fits (stock Morgan) fine. My car cover fits fine also with no problems. I bought the taller hoops because I'm 6'4" and have a great imagination and have pictures in my mind where sliding down the road tea over kettle and grinding my skull hasn't much appeal.They ARE taller and with my fairbourne screen and a rearview mounted I have no problem with a rear view. I think the taller hoops are a great safety option. BTW they are a bit of a pain to fit. The ends don't fit properly into the frame sockets and I did a fair bit of grinding AND THEN padded the hoops and hammered them in, then the retaining bolts aligned just fine with a punch and bolts seated just fine

I think the talker hoops as well as the Fairbourne screen are too high and make the car look less balanced.

Thanks hbatts, I take that you changed-over to the taller hoops? Good to know that I can swap to the shorter ones if for some reason I decided to. What did you use for a center-mount rear-view mirror?

Ken - tend to agree, but I'm tall enough to want the (admittedly modest) improved wind protection of the Fairbourne, and was thinking that the taller screen and the taller hoops would go OK together. At least that was my original thinking...
