Morgan Octagonal Wheel Socket

I recall seeing this linked on here by somebody, I ordered one. Today it arrived in the post from here (no link to me etc.).

Very pleased with the quality and a top chap to deal with.

Lightweight so ideal to have in the car. The tool has a hex nut drive to fit 38 mm or 1 1/2 socket and when used will completely clear all bodywork.

One of those is sitting in my garage. Beautifully made and finished.

Not used it yet since the car only came back on Wednesday from 4 weeks away. The 38mm socket and 600mm long 3/4" breaker bar have also arrived. Hoping to test them all at the weekend.

Hello everybody!

Here´s the tool I use since 3 years for the MORGAN two eared spinners:

https://www.oldtimertools.de/Vehicle-Type/Morgan/

Please note that you need the "nut" + a ratchet and an adapter.
All together everything but cheap, but very good quality and always did the business quite easily and safely (both for the car and the user).

They sell them sometimes on classic car shows like the Techno Classica in Essen/Germany where I bought the three items plus a bag to put the ratchet and the adapter in as a package and they made a very good offer.

Usual disclaimer: No personal relation, just a satisfied customer.

Best regards from Germany,

George

If using this tool is there a specific torque you tighten to? For my wife's Elan I had to buy a huge tourque wrench as Lotus specify a really high figure.
What a bargain too, at $84.00 how could I resist it - ordered now smile
Thanks for the link Richard

Uther, I was told by the Morgan dealer that sold me their wheel socket that the correct torque was 280nm. He advised using a 600mm/2foot breaker bar to tighten the nuts. This has always worked well for me.
However I always need to undo the nuts with a 900mm/3foot breaker bar.

Excelent, thanks for that. I do like to get these things right

That's 206lb/ft roughly similar to the Elan - bloody tight smile

Which Octagonal Wheel socket did you buy for the Traditional Morgan - the MG or Lotus one?

The Morgan one that was not for the Plus 8 , I see that listing has disappeared since I bought it - maybe I got the last one from the ones like that in stock? Keep checking that seller and he will probably realist another one

Cheers John

Not the Plus 8 one (initially I did and the seller kindly amended my order).
