I was there with my camera yesterday and have several images of the cars in build, especially three wheelers. However, taking photographs of the builds is a privilege and I would never dream of supplying those images direct to buyers without some form of consent because it breaks the trust between customer and dealer, and ultimately leads to three way conversations which are needless. Quote from Steve- Stringers Best Mate

Steve- I agree with your opinion IF their was a more positive connection between the Factory and the Dealer. The communication between the two is lacking for whatever reason. If you have been reading the posts from other Members waiting for their cars you would realize that the Dealers are only second guessing the progress of the vehicle until it is completed and ready for delivery. Their best estimates of delivery rely more on the history of the vehicles they have ordered and received. I do not see that as a break down in trust. A glimpse into the future is all we are asking for. Is that so bad?

For those of us waiting I surmise that the waiting period is getting longer for several reasons. One is the increase in orders because of price increases, exchange rate, economy and overall desirability/popularity of the M3W. The other is the offering of many more options. It maybe that the Factory has started production on vehicles that are relying on outside vendors for the availability of parts before they can be completed. All of the increase in demand and need for the parts will eventually work itself out and make the owners and employees of the Morgan Company very happy! In the mean time….. )-:

Gents,

My point is that by taking photographs by owners request of specific builds and placing on a public forum abuses the privilege of being able to have access to the site, when Morgan themselves offer that service at a charge. They are a business, and by doing this it's a breach of trust.

I fully understand people's frustrations with communication, Hell, we've all been THERE, but it's not acceptable practice to blatantly request anyone that's visiting to take photo's of an individual build, chiefly because it can cause so many problems.

For example, assume I see someone's photo of my build and I'm not happy with some detail. I then blast my dealer, with whom I have the contract with, who understandably pats my head and tries to find out more.

The factory then get his blast and takes someone's time & effort to try and establish exactly what the issue is. Now, it has been known for cars to be completely wrong in colour, or interior etc but that's very rare. What's more likely is that it's something that can easily be adjusted/changed or sorted at PDI or similar.

The whole process then becomes a time consuming tail chase and may be nothing in the end, the net result is that people waste time by placating customers on what are in effect, photographic snap shots of a moment in time.

I've suggested to the factory that they install a 'factorycam' internet camera that customers can gain access to via a code from the dealer, that way people can keep looking and seeing, but only from a distance.

It's not about obtaining permissions, Morgan are so generous allowing cameras in there in the first place. Can you imagine JLR or Ford doing this..? Of course not.

It's about not abusing a privilege, or getting for free what would ordinarily cost on a commercial basis.

The big bugbear with the factory is communication. The new director involved is Dennis DeRoos, and he is the one that people are leaning on at the moment. The factory have an annual Dealer Meeting conference in mid-November, so if anyone has any specific issues, they may be well advised to speak to their attending dealer for a better explanation of communication..!

Steve,

Do you have any photos of Build #84012? If you do, can you please either post them or send them to me directly? I am not looking to use any photos of my build for any legal action or anything negative against my dealer, I simply would love to know if my car has started production, and to get a sense of where in the production process it might be.

As others have mentioned, dealers seem to have difficulty getting updates from the factory regarding their customer''s build status. They rely on emails and phone calls between themselves and the factory, and history has shown that their communication is rather infrequent and not always effective. First hand knowledge of an in-person visit is always best.

If you can share your photos from your recent visit, I am certain many of us waiting would be appreciative and would have no intention of using them against their dealers. It's also fun in general to see photos of these wonderful cars being built.

Thanks!

-Tom

Totally agree. There are future owners, ie, Ken and Tom, who don't have the chance to visit the factory and would love to have some images of their builds. What's the issue with that? When I visited the factory a few weeks ago, I happily went out of my way (with both Morgan staff and my dealers help) to find anything about the guys builds. If I was going back I would do the same again.

I'm heartened to think you paid for someone's opinions, then. Not all are owners, and I doubt that their employer would agree with their sentiments whilst they are being paid by them.

Paid for opinions? I paid nothing for anyone's opinions. I don't get your point. What are Internet forums about? Sharing information. I find it rather strange for you to comment that you took many pictures, but refuse to show them because of 'confidentiality'. Haven't you broken that confidentiality by taking the images of individuals cars who are unknown to you in the first place?

You paid to go on a tour of the works, yes? You said the guide told you the bonnet belts do nothing except scratch paint.

Payment and opinion.

And as you say, everyone is entitled to have an opinion. Yours is different to mine and I accept that.

Read my post again. I was there with my dealer and Morgan staff. They helped me take as many images as I wanted of other individuals cars. No money changed hands.

Read my post. I didn't pay to go on the tour, I was following a tour. I was there to see my car being built.

Do you really want the belt? Even on the factory tour, the guide said the only thing the belt does is scratch the paint..

Yup, read it again. Defy says Factory Tour..

I can't be bothered arguing, Glenn. Life's too short. If you want to say you win, then you win.
