I couldn't agree with Steve and Dave more. I did a full resto and mods to concourse standards (comparable to Steve Healey 3) on an XK 140 in 1983 It took me 3 years, and I had a great deal of help from Jaguar factory, not only in expertise, but in locating some rare parts from their obsolete stores. It still completely took over my life to the detriment of my young family, much better to buy a fully fettled example ,enjoy driving it and play around with the detail.

i will add a few beginner notes. I have basically the same situation and i have to say i am not doing a full restore or concourse restore i will say dont get discouraged its been a blast i have spent some cold days and nights in the garage and actually have been having the time of my life between just the ability to spend my time with my hands up her skirt to some of the visuals they are mind blowing. plus the fact i can ask my family to help choose rugs or help polish things with tinfoil. its a tru labor of love now to drive it once its starts. I hope u keep pressing thru restorations can be done in stages so dont get over whelmed its actually an easy car to be a beginner and i love making new wood panels if needed or shaping metal or tripping pieces to fit a tad better.
