I wouldn't buy a Morgan with glass wings. I don't care how good they look. If it came from the factory with steel I would replace it with steel or if it's alloy the same. Just my $.02 cents.

I once bought a complete lightweight fibreglass shell and wings from David Rurtherford for autocrossing looked as good as the original car...and a lot harder to damage.

Fair enough. I'm intrigued as to why, though? Modifying the engine is ok but not the bodywork?

I fully accept that it's going to impact the resale value, but since (a) I have no intention of ever selling the car, and (b) it's already completely non-standard in terms of engine, suspension, brakes, differential, and electrical system I figure the damage has already been done, so to speak smile

Originality?
Too much emphasis is placed on this for the average Mog. In my view 99% of Morgans are basically standard production cars to the first owner's spec. As such they are "nothing special" to warrant originality. A bit controversial, perhaps, but the 1% of "special" cars have a significant reason to be in that sector. Prototype/historic/race pedigree/significant development etc.. How much of TOK is truly "original".
Aero GTN is a very small build number so could sit in the special category.
For debate.....Morgan have produced several limited editions so these might creep in too.
My trad Plus8 is in the 99% group and as such it is treated appropriately. Many "original" nuts/bolts/screws have been replaced by stainless. Rollbar fitted so another deviation. Rutherford AVO shocks so again non standard.
GRP wings? Nothing wrong with them in my view. Properly moulded and finished they are excellent. several car companies use GRP and make superb cars.

Nothing wrong with glass fibre wings and those that Tim has bought look superb.
As for the issues of originality and resale values; I am very much in the "oily rag" persuasion, rather than the "lets restore it until it looks like a new car"
One of my favourite Morgans is Nick Charlesworth's wonderful old 4 Seater. Those who know the car will understand my preference.
notworthy

I just don't get the Morgan limited editions.
If you order a new car you can get the spec to what you want. Morgan owners tend to be individualists so the odds of your spec being the same as another persons are very small.
The limited editions tend to be the same as each other look at the number of anniversary 4/4s in sax blue.

Stanley is certainly not of the "oily rag" variety ooo
