Can anyone inform is the Logbook (Registration V5) marked S1..... or just Aero8

If so how would you know you were actually purchasing an S1.

I know Cocpits are narrower

Two piece front wings (s2 also had these), lower line rear end, narrow cocpit with half dash and earlier mark of engine. There are many other differences eg hood/brakes etc but these are the most visable.

Centre lock wheels is the easiest spot....

Cockpit is a lot narrower.
Dashboard is not from edge to edge on S1.

Clearly the headlights are the give away.
Beetle units instead of later Mini models.

Front brakes are smaller
4.4 non VANOS engine
One piece centre lock wheels
Many had 2 windscreen wipers instead of the later 3.

Only car which shared these headlamps was the later Series 2. This had a lot of differences. Full width dash, normal bolted wheels, wider cockpit, 330bhp engine with single VANOS. They only made a few of these Series 2 models.

Some Series 1's had bolt on wheels. Only early ones had knock-ons

You beat me to remark about S1 bolt-on wheels.

Perhaps Gajet would like to create a Series 1&1/2 for his register (à la E Type) so S1 cars with 5 nut fixings can be identified?

Were there any other differences on these later S1 cars? I know that I've seen a couple of S1s that had metal beading in front of doors (à la trad) to stop so much water ingress through door seals

Think I'm 0176 and I have centre locks.

Cheers

There were also other changes at the end of the S1 run as well.

stud wheels
Door beading on the leading edge
Different roof line (more pram shaped like S2)
Steering wheel apparently
