Yes...you need to get the car really quite high with the top bolts out of the shocks and the wheel on the deck to get the bottom bolts out.

not able to do rears today,haven't got spanner to fit rear wheel! released top of shocks jacked up but belt holding wheel up,belt interfaces with cross member for the bevel box makes it very tight ,don't want to do any damage in that area.
So it will wait till i bring a spanner home from the garage. Give the fronts test drive tomorrow at blackbushe..... Thanks again for your insights Calum.

Went to halfords got a socket for rear wheel . strip it all out, jack up high, belt loose and out the way, swing arm won't go down far enough to clear fuel tanks......... the bevel box bracket fowls the swing arm ........ either lift tanks /or remove affending bracket... or remove swing arm to let it drop some more.......or put it back together and go out for a ride tomorrow.......Guess who going out tomorrow..........

Bugger...I've got one of the slightly odd chassis in that it started as a late 2012, got a 2013 (pre-rubber mounts for bevel box) then got a mid 2015 chassis again without the rubber mounts and associated bracketry for the bevel box. This latest chassis of mine just needs the swing arm pushed gently down with the shock tops unbolted to get the lower bolts out below the tanks.

The settings I have on my Ohlins shocks are;
Fronts 12 clicks back from maximum and 38.8mm pre-load
Rears 14 clicks back from max and 41.6mm pre-load

You can go a fair few clicks either way and still stay within the ball park as each click gives a reasonably subtle change as far as road use is concerned, might be a bit different on a track with a stop watch on the go.

The photos show where I measured the pre-load from (and no, I don't think it is worth measuring it to tenths! I just used a vernier on the calipers as I couldn't find my tape or a ruler in the garage!)

Front

Rear (also shows the offset top hats required for belt clearance)
