Well, 18 months later and the front N/S needs another refinishing.....this time a series of minor "kerb kisses" mean that about 270 degrees or rim needs refinishing.

I took the wheel off, started rubbing down and thought "this needs quite a lot of work, leave it to a professional" so I took it round to a specialist and for £120 inc VAT they completed the work in 3 days. Tyre off, media blast back to metal, prime, paint, clear coat.

The colour match is perfect.
The workmanship is better than mine.

I thought about getting all the wheels re-finished, but the other 3 are OK, one or two minor blemishes.

Good to hear that - all part of 'taking carte of things'.
Ever thought of trying those 'gators advertised in MOGMag?
They have some rather fetching (or is it retching) colours to choose from.

I did...

they don't fit the front wheels because MMC fit a 225 section tyre to a rim intended to take a 245 section tyre.

A 225 is the narrowest section that can be used and even so the sidewall slopes slightly inward. To work properly these rim protectors need the tyre to slope slightly outwards.....

MMC should have fitted a 1" narrower section wheel....but they didn't.

That seems good value for the money, anyway. Hopefully, it won't become too regular a chore..!!
