It is amazing how tech has developed since the 60's.
I had a pocket sliderule for everyday use when a metallurgist. Bought a Sinclair calculator when they came out, trouble is it went haywire when in warm(hot) areas like our casting bay.
At home I had a Spectrum. Still got it in the attic.
Apple brought out Supercalc and desktops and that seemed amazing!
Went back to uni as a mature student and did some programming as part of the course. Enjoyed it. It also got me into basic understanding of computing....handy for work, a bit harder for the company geeks to domibate our needs!
Nowadays tech on the move is becoming the norm. I have a Star Trek communicator (smartphone) ...how prophetic back in those days!
Home wifi with ipads, oldish desktop that is used less.
The iphone I find is great with a decent camera for snapshots to capture "moments".
I am a bit concerned about how they dominate peoples lives though. The inappropriate use driving, cycling, pedestrians for one. The growth of problems in "social media".
Too many humans seem to get sucked into the tech and its use too easily. Common sense disappears. There is a compulsion to use a mobile at the slightest nudge. Everything MUST be done immediately not when convenient. Attitudes need to change.
As an aside....I am going to post a tech based item on Friday humour......

HP 75a scientific computer
My first exposure to programming was about 1977 or 8 when I was designing roof trusses. I don't recall exactly but a little research seems to indicate I was probably using a Hewlett-Packard 9100A. I really didn't like the reverse Polish notation that HP used. I later started writing the same programs for a similar TI system (TI-99?). Following that I went back to study "Computer Information Systems" as an adult student. Worked on DEC and CPM systems, a little of UNIX, then along came the IBM PC, MSDOS, Windows, Apple, Lisa (Aarrrghh). Mainly worked in sales, customer support, training, etc. Then consulting, network installation, training. I seem to have spent a good deal of my life resolving end user problems in one way or another. I'm one of those strange people who seemed to be able to discover the source of problems and how to resolve it. Even if I did not know how to do it myself I could direct other people to do it. I'm happy to have left it all behind and forget most of what I ever knew. I never accumulated or kept outdated equipment, probably most disposed of in various office or house moves, the only old computer I still have is a 2002 PC running Windows 2000. I haven't fired it up for quite some time now. At home we run a PC, a few Samsung Android devices, a TV, and two MacBooks (  and jnr) all hooked up by a cabled and Wi-Fi network. That is enough for me now. I have more fun with the Morgan.

I've been knocking about social media since the '80s
Forgive my ignorance, but how? I didn't see my first web browser until around '94 and social sites didn't arrive until nearer the end of that decade? Was I just very late to the party?  I guess you are not aware of Usenet. It was arguably the first social media system and commonly used by university researchers and such. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usenet Yes, like many I discovered Usenet by typing rn instead of rm. Our department feed came once or twice a week via tape until we got our own Telebit Trailblazer modem. The oldest post of mine I can find in Google Groups is from March '88 in comp.sys.mac.hypercard. I later found rec.motorcycles and became a Denizen of Doom. In 1990 I started a UK motorcycle email list which is still going strong having changed host a few times and after a rename for legal reasons.

Funny how parents, ex-wives, and daughters throw out stuff without asking first. Mind you with ex-wives I can sort of understand, particularly if they were a bit prone to throwing out stuff before they became ex-wives.

Daughters in particular are a risk to historic artifacts, but also tidy stuff away without asking.
