I have a 2001 plus 8 with a classic removable hood. Circumstances beyond my control mean that I have to relocate. Currently my Morgan sits cosily inside a garage complete with a set of ramps (for manly fettling and inspection of underparts), power and lighting. There is a possibility that I may not have a garage in my new house....how much of a disaster is that? I have a "storm cover" which can protect the inside once the hood is up and still allow air movement in and around the car. How many forum members keep their cars outside all year round?

My Golf sits under a "Specialised Cover" outdoor cover and has done so for three and a half years without a problem so far.
Occasionally in winter I lift the cover to allow the condensation to lift, but no ill effects (to date).

There are certainly one or two TM members who keep Morgans outside and they should be along eventually.

The alternative is to look for storage elsewhere, either professional or a neighbour. Way back we found an old lady five doors away who was delighted to let me use her garage free of charge in exchange for the occasional company, It was a godsend at the time.

Having recently passed my Roadster on to my son - it is now street parked!

Of course this would not be my first choice - but there it is.

Guess we shall both let TM know a year hence how things have worked out?

Mine's sitting outside now while I do the garage up. Not troubled at all. Spent a lot of time outside in all weathers on holiday in the UK so I wouldn't worry too much. Some sort of cover is probably a good idea to prevent bird poo and airborne particulate damage. I'm sure someone may be along in a minute though to contradict me and tell you they melt if left outside!

I passed one today parked on a driveway under a cover.

I thlnk to leave any soft top car outside, longterm in the uk is a disaster. Did it many years ago with an MGA, never again, it melted away. It still hurts when i think back. Dont think it wont happen to me, it WILL.

I leave my 4/4 out on the drive under a good cover .
The only problem is during the strong winds keeping it down.
As a member suggest run a small advert for a garage.
I had use of one owned by a pensioner until she had to go into a home.
Place an advert on Gumtree or pre loved they are free sites.

If the car is going to have to be parked on the street then I would think a soft cover is about the only choice.

But if you can get it off the road and into your garden then there are a lot more choices. At the NEC show we saw dinky little clamshell car shelters that looked like they would be good. You can also get exterior air chamber type jobs.

If it's off road & there's room, get a covered car transporter trailer. You could use it as a garage and when you've finished, it'll be worth almost as much than you paid..
