Why would a scot buy a Hoover when a broom will do. No hole in a broom handle.
Sorry for the type casting but you started it hide

I take it you mean Scot? No offence taken. My broom is still original.

Yes sincere apologies, Scot is what I meant. Glad your broom is still original, so is mine although I did have to fit a new head and handle this year.

......and back to the original topic laugh2

I've now done a little more research and it seems I may be able to buy a nice tight 90* bend (52mm radius) and add tube either side, one with a socket. I'd just need a few careful measurements and perhaps extend the extend the centre box supporting bracket. read

Cost of the bits is probably about £40 delivered.

So, my next questions are how easy would it be to have the stainless tube butt welded? Is this a specialist task or can most exhaust fitters normally do it? Is likely to be
expensive?

Cheers

Its relatively easy to weld stainless as long as you gave the correct gear - TIG welder, correct shielding gas and the correct filler rod.

Don't think an exhaust fitter would have that sort of gear.

My local coded welder charges me 10 quid for doing exhaust pipe welds as long as I prepare the job for him - I.e parts off the car, the joint cleaned to bare metal and bevelled and clear instructions to him

Hope this helps
