Purchasers of new Morgans have one very important thing in common - the willingness to invest £40k to £110k or thereabouts on something which is essentially a toy.

There are another two very significant characteristics of this group:

1. There really aren't very many of them
2. They are open to lots of other temptations (boats, holiday homes, other cars etc) which are equally likely to attract their attention and money

Even existing Morgan owners don't all fall into this group, there are many (like myself) who own a Morgan which they bought second-hand, and have no intention of ever buying a new car - no use at all to MMC.

I perfectly understand why MMC might not wish to consider me when deciding to whom they wish to try and sell their products.

I would love the shop to sell a big wide silky shiny unfashionable kipper tie with the Morgan logo on

Don't forget how useful a folding coat hanger can be as well....if you don't have a folding coat you could use it to hang your tie!

Thinking about Russ Abbot and the wired scarf - perhaps he would brighten up the shop a bit with improved sales wink

Am I right in thinking you don't actually have to shop there if you own a Morgan?

And in answer to the original question; a Morgan classic duvet cover with wheels at the sides.

Undoubtedly, you are right there Peter! oldgit

But to be serious rather than tongue in cheek, the idea that MMC has a market position which will allow any significant brand marketing is in my view unrealistic. And I would question whether they have the resources to do the job properly anyway. Certainly its putting the marketing cart before the engineering horse. First get the product right.

Many companies have tried to emulate the HD example and some of them have certainly had the necessary product strength ( Porsche for example) but few if any in the motor industry have really succeeded . What people forget is that HD are selling the American image, the Malboro cowboy if you like, the Hells Angel. They are riding on the back of American cultural hegemony which dominates our world wide media. People buy HD bikes and HD tat because they want the American image

Howard, I do jest, but you still haven't been persuaded over to the dark side to buy the car yet! grin2 hide
