I rather liked my two Z4s......in fact I miss them rather more than my recently departed Cayman. Probably says a lot about me and my driving! And unlike Howard I have absolutely no desire to own a Ferrari unless it's one from the '50s.

A couple of years ago SWMBO had a Jaguar XK for a day while her XF was in for a service. She loved it. I had a drive and fell in love as well. Lovely 5 litre V8. Ding dong! Great value for money now.
Or as someone has already said - Lotus Elise; just the sweetest steering ever!

My dad moved on from the Plus 8 (which is now mine) to a Jag XK. He didnt get on with it (still not 100% sure why) and swapped it for a Range Rover Sport TDV8 which he loves...

What was the ownership experience like if you dont mind telling us? I too would like an old Ferrari, maybe 60s rather than 50s. Unfortunately, I cant afford the 10 million or whatever so I will leave the field to you. The 348 should not be discounted. The OP could get a decent one for 50k with a 300 bhp engine , a lovely looking body and good performance. Whats more it will be a classic nd like all ferraris, Astons, Lambos etc, it is "special". Driving it is an event.

The Cayman went because my circumstances changed and I needed something more suitable for a weekly 150 mile thrash up the M6 to Cumbria. Since selling it, I find that I don't miss it. Yes, I loved it when I bought it but found I was driving like a hooligan to get the best out of it. And strangely it is the Z4 that comes to mind when I think about my past cars.

The Cayman went because my circumstances changed and I needed something more suitable for a weekly 150 mile thrash up the M6 to Cumbria. Since selling it, I find that I don't miss it. Yes, I loved it when I bought it but found I was driving like a hooligan to get the best out of it. And strangely it is the Z4 that comes to mind when I think about my past cars. And you can't tow a caravan with a Cayman.

£50k gets a vey good lotus Evora, I had one, it was absolutely brilliant and apart from the initial drop, they hold their money well, the earliest cars (09) are still at around 50% of purchase price.
