i really want a Tesla, but cant bring myself to spend £90k on a Tin Top when there is much more exciting things out there.

There was a point early in the video where the car reacted to a cyclist approaching from the rear before an intersection, and the car paused before assuming a lane to let the cyclist pass. Similarly, later when the car encounters pedestrians walking on a verge it pauses. This is both impressive and worrying. A human driver would allow room for the cyclist to pass, and drive slowly past the pedestrians having checked it was safe to pull out. A following human driver could easily rear-end the Tesla because these are not the normal human driver behaviours in these situations.

Very impressive but also very scary. I think the guy in the driver's seat showed incredible confidence.

Typical bicyclist: overtaking on the near side on the approach to an intersection then not stopping at the stop sign. Then they complain about the cars if one gets killed or injured.

The system might also be useful for those commercial drivers who like to use their phones and computers whilst driving....and some have even been caught cooking themselves a meal on 'long boring sections' of road.

Another plus might be that could force the larger vehicles to stay in a particular lane on a dual carriageway or motorway.

Good point, we might see an end to this 'elephant racing' nonsense where one truck does 56 mph and another does 56.001 mph for miles.

Another reason I got fed-up with driving (but the biggest problem was the number of idiots in tin tops who think you can accelerate, brake and manoeuvre just as in a car... )

Good video. I can see many pluses for this but with reservations.
As a solitary car it reacted strongly on the side of safety, almost stopping for pedestrians though? Stopping back from junctions......
Traffic was very light.
My fears are about heavier traffic with mainly non autonomous vehicles. As this tech becomes more widely used then ok, human error/variation in actions will be less of an unknown variable.
As for human vision.....I posted a link to an article by an RAF instructor describing the major failings of human vision/brain interpretation. One reason for "oops!Sorry, I didn't see you" which is a real fact.
On motorways it could be useful, allowing traffic to use a lane under such management. Provided ability to cope with exit/entry points is guaranteed to be managed safely. How many vehicles leave it late to manoevre correctly for exits? One such late dive across from lane 3 to an exit would have a big effect on lanes 1 and 2. Therein lies one of my reservations. There are too many iffy drivers who do such things and until general driving standards improve I would worry about the tech.
I would love to see video evidence from a car reacting to such driving.
I'd have a Tesla but would I use the driverless feature? Rarely if at all, I suspect. I would certainly try it but on a selected route inly.

But the drivers know they are fitted, don't they? So why do they even attempt such manoeuvres when they know full well they'll be blocking two lanes (or three, if they're on the M5 south out of Bristol) for the next 20 minutes?

For every car driver who doesn't understand the physics of trucks, there's probably a truck driver who doesn't give two hoots about getting in the way of cars trying to make progress.

And the signs excluding heavy vehicles from the outside lane of 2 lane stretches of the A42 and A14 may as well not be there. 2 weeks ago on the A14 one such violation was ignored by a marked police car - presumably on his way somewhere more important (at the speed limit when feasible, no lights showing)

What is the point, we already have driver less cars, they are called Taxis or if you are a bit short on money, the looser cruiser with the bus pass!!!!!
