Don't forget the plug leads! Years ago I cured rough running on an XR3i with new leads.

Since no 1 lead seems to cause problems, could it be that the cap has a crack or a coal/dirt 'bridge'. It could cause spark to jump sideways and find it's way to the other plugs and 'upset' the charging of the coil. Just a thought... Changing the lead/cap and cleaning the head between the plugs could help in such a case.

I would start by replacing the CONDENSOR! The CAP may have a crack also?

Yep it's the last thing to really dig into.
I did check it but not with a microscope, but that and renewing the leads is about all I have left in this puzzle.
