When on the Tools i worked out that a Warranty Company would only visit the Job if it exceeded a certain amount.

eg £500 value Warranty £250.00 claim,

i would read the small print on behalf of the Customer, wangle my way around the small jargon and claim on behalf of the Customer, explaining it would be better this way even if the Customer had to contribute a small portion..... 100% success every time.

At one point the Representative of the Warranty Company threatened to stop claims, he suggested the Warranty company was loosing money on me.

Now tell me Car Dealers Mechanics are Dishonest

I used to sell a lot of used car warranties when I was a Trader. Then I was recruited by a UK automotive manufacturer to cut down on fraudulent claims. Then I was made redundant and went back to work in the Franchise motor trade. If I can ever be of help, please message me.

None of the above can be as bad as the Mercedes Benz warranty, I know from experience,
Their warranty only covers 'Manufacturing defects' !

During my time in MB I had good experiences.

CL600 bought second hand through their network and a number of large jobs needed doing. Never had to question it.
E63 estate has only a couple of minor niggles but they got done without a question.

I am in the middle of a terrible saga with Audi (where the dealer has done a good job in truth) with some wobbly wheels that went off centre.

It does seem to be a bit of pot luck with the dealer, car, error and approach.

We have had generally good experiences with the Mercedes dealer in Salisbury.

Never any argument on warranty work, both new car and Mercedes used car warranty. We have had 5 cars from them since 1999.

Possibly the most extreme was a total respray this year on a Feb 2011 car. I understand that Mercedes has an issue with Fire Opal Red applied to certain German built cars between September 2010 and June 2011. The etch primer applied to steel panels slowly reacts with the primer and the result is a separation of the clear coat from the colour coat. The solution is to rub down to bare meta, re-spray with 4 coats of paint, supplied by MB.....plus about £5000 labour.

I also understand that any car re-sprayed will not be re-sold by Mercedes as a used car, but are sold at auction. This makes me wonder how confident they are about the durability of the re-spray.

So, on the basis of my local dealer I'd buy a MB from them. Unfortunately at the moment there isn't a model in the range that I'd actually want to buy, though we will look at the new E Coupe when it comes out next year.

Thats the definition of a warranty; manufacturing or material defects. Anything else is a serviceable item or abuse.

From experience, Mercedes offer a generous Goodwill policy for poor design long after the stipulated warranty has expired.

YD64KXY sitting at the local dealers, 18,200 miles, £39,895.
A hell of a lot of car for the money.
But as most of the trips my wife would use it for are the 0.8 miles to the stables the fuel consumption would be, well, a bit painful....

Mind you, I'm pretty sure that the E63 comes with 4matic (4 wheel drive) as standard.

Just the job for popping down the stables !!
