I think that is probably correct - and I am certain that Jochen would agree! However, that does not alter the fact that nobody creating a circuit today would consider the Goodwood design, especially in that area, acceptable. It was literally an accident waiting to happen and I wish I could think of an obvious solution.
I love watching on the live feed the Goodwood circuit events (the Members' Meeting and the Revival), which feature some world-class racing drivers pushing wonderful cars to their limits... but I am always relieved when the weekend concludes without a serious accident. If there had been anyone in the tunnel when that chap dropped into it in his Brabham during this year's Members' Meeting, it would have been Game Over for Goodwood.
The driver was unfortunate because he became innocently involved in someone else's accident. However, he was also incredibly fortunate because he escaped with a broken collarbone (and now the car has been repaired and so has he and he is back racing it). But he was not half as lucky as Lord March...

A lovely story Pdron. I've seen Jochen up close a few times e.g. Ennstal Classic and Goodwood and he impresses, first as a wheel man, and secondly as an open and interesting character. Bet you enjoyed chatting to him.
