I love them .
I test drove one.
I bought a M4w. ......

I have a motorcycle when I want . The M3W is just a bike that don't lean. I've owned a BSA TW 32 3 wheeler, A Jzr threewheeler, driven an old JAP M3W.
Love them all.
But the 'new' M3W is just too expensive and full of 'faults' for me.
Just my opinion

I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong , lol. The newer ones are fault free pretty much... early bugs ironed out. A new Harley trike can be over $30,000, so a hand made bespoke M3W isn't expensive. As to bring a bike that doesn't lean? I've put more miles backing a bike up to a curb than most have going forward...49 years as my primy mode of getting around. They are SUCH different animals.

A difficult dilemma - and one which I constantly face!

I had wanted a Morgan 3 Wheeler since I was nine years old.

My bothers and I used to see on locally. It would have been an air cooled Jap engined model with open valve gear. We were mesmerised.

45 years later I was heavily into veteran and vintage bikes.

Then MMC launched the M3W I first saw one at Prescott.

I had to have one.

So I sold three bikes and became the owner of a March 2012 car.

Just 55 years after wanting one!

Wow!

Over the following two years my delight slowly turned into despair.
15 trips to the factory and still not fully right.

So with a heavy heart I sold it and soon bought a 4/4.

Then the Roadster.

Do I miss the Three Wheeler ...oh yes ..all the time.

Would I have another ...oh yes!

BUT a fully sorted very late if not new one!

So,I am probably not the right person to offer advice given my bias and lust!

When it comes to reliability my 2013 built 3wheeler was not great at all in the beginning but everything has been sorted. Now she is as good as she can be.
A steel sprocket and the stage 1kit have changed everything to the better.
More than 20.000km on the clock and stll great fun.

I ordered a M3W last year because it is enough of a cross-over between a bike and a car to satisfy my bike desires (hopefully), and I love the look and the feel of driving one. So as a peace offering to my SO I've decided to sell my bikes, as I wasn't really using them anyway and I'm certain we'll collectively use the M3W more frequently, either 1 or 2-up. I don't expect to tour in it - my 2014 Corvette Z51 convert (daily driver) is more than enough capable long-distance fun tourer for that purpose when needed, and is certainly the fastest most capable vehicle I've ever owned. But it doesn't feel or drive like a M3W.

I really initially wanted an early M3W, but I think the new one has all the interest of the original, while being turn-key usable. That's what initially attracted me so much to it.

As others have said, rationalizing an irrational purchase is entertaining, but ultimately silly. Drive one and see if you come back with a huge smile or not :-) You may decide you need to have both!

I also fancy a M3W, but i'd only have one alongside my Aero.. never instead of.

It's a fantastic toy, but it really is a toy for using a few times in the year when sunny weather is guaranteed in my books. It'll put a smile on your face like nothing else for those shorter summers journeys.

However for me unless you are fortunate enough to be able to afford both, then I would imagine single ownership would wipe that smile off your face fairly quickly if you intend to use it a lot.

Some very different and mixed thoughts as one might expect. I definitely need a test drive so will look for availability. Oakmere's hire vehicle sounds like a plan once the weather picks up a little.

I'm getting the feeling the M3W is very much an occasional or 3rd car, were the 4/4 is definately a 2nd car for me.

So, I need that (extended) test drive!

I've driven the M3W around the Western Cape. No other car receives such a reaction fr attention and there the weather is absolutely perfect - what's not to like? I think SBM's comments on what it's like when it's wet are very valid and pertinent if you intend t to replace the 4/4 rather than have as well as when you can then choose which cared pending on the weather. I always thought my 4/4 gave the most 'sensible' balance of individuality, fun, sale and cheapness to run.

Probably best to hire an M3W on a horrible day and then you'd see whether it works for you or not.

That's a good way to put it. I love the 3 wheelers, they are an absolute hoot to drive, but I can't honestly see that there would be that many occasions in which I would use it in preference to the 4/4.
