I know where they were going with this one (at least I think I do) but honestly, have they lost the plot?!? A Panda

Well unless you call 3 points a driving record - it's being 32, not garaging it and currently living in North London so 'london weighting' applies..

Having said that I've found a couple of much more realistic quotes (i.e. 3 figures) so the search for an XJR is on

I've an XJ-S convertible and like it greatly. Perhaps too much because i had a manual gearbox put in it and some upgrades done. Running costs are reasonable now I've dropped a wedge and classic insurance is cheap. A well set up one is great but they are not such a hack, in the same way you would'nt want to use an Aero in daily traffic..... Any questions ask

(at the moment the pound sign seems to truncate the posts - we're not sure why but have reported it to UBB Software, who provide the Forum software)

When you get the answer you could probably market it - specifically to husbands who might like to apply it to the chequebooks of their wives and girlfriends ...

Right then. Still on the lookout for an XJR, but starting to think that going for a 'cheap' one is going to be false economy.

On that basis the budget is tentatively being raised to nearer 20k. On that basis it suddenly opens up a world of other possiblities.

The XJR (last model) and XJ (current model) are both options now.
As is a BMW 745i 2002. These seem incredible value at the moment, around 20k buying a low mileage one with all the toys.

I've been incredibly impressed with the dirvetrain in the Aero, always reliable, never have to turn the key more than once etc, so to have that powertrain in a mode everyday load lugging 'smoker' would be very reassuring. Plus I like the look of the toys - ventilated seats, soft closing doors and a killer hi fi sound very attractive!

ANyone else had one of these beasts?
