I scare to say that, but going like this PLUS the Brexit we are going to see (i hope to never see it) the end of car passion, and of course no more kit car ...... so all small brand will be forced to close down I would have thought that the pressures for compliance with small manufacturers are going to be less strenuous out of the EU rather than in it.. Hi Steve, sorry i guess you confuse me or i express my self wrongly before the Brexit the UK gouv have power to negotiate with EU to keep small production alive i have read they have the largest quantity for small car factory. Now with the Brexit the card have change hand, & i can bet thoose stupid of brussels will push for all car get homologated as they think a car should be. Second point i not with Brexit some small factory will survive At least again i hope to never see that That is a very real risk issue. What many brexiteers dont realise is that a lot of the trade regulations they complain about were to prevent non tariff barriers of the sort that both French and Germans were very good at. For example, for many years and whilst building up their own boat building industry the French used non tariff barriers to prevent imports from the then dominant British industry. The German had a slightly different arguably more arrogant and less cynical approach - they required everything to be TuV approved yet the TuV standards were derived by German manufacturers to fit their plant and capabilities alone. Whats more the TuV testing system was run to make it difficult for foreigners to get approval. Remember what the French did to Japanese car imports at one stage? It was in fact one reason why the Japs built plants here to gain access to the EU which they couldnt get otherwise. So yes. It is very likely that the EU without us will devise ways of hindering British exports to the EU. Trade is war by economic means and what matters is winning.
