Why not make it up in ready chromed, copper water pipe - the type they use for showers, etc. when it's going to be on display.....?

James

I thought of that, but I want it made as one piece, with no soldered sleeve joints. So better to have it made in steel and chromed.
Also, I though of fitting the "Umbrella Tube" as sold by Williams, like so:

It might look good. I'm going up to Williams on Wednesday so will see what is possible.

could use use a single piece and a pipe spring/bender to get the shape you wanted without joins...?

James,

I'm not convinced my pipe bending skills are sufficient to get both bends the correct distance apart, they need to be +/-2mm. That sort of precision needs a professional!!

I'd be inclined to take the piece you have made up down to one of many guys who makes stainless fabrications for the boating industry and he will make you one in no time from polished 316 stainless tube. There will be several such companies round the Hamble area, not that far south from you, and if you organise it first it could be a nice day out with the tube bent whilst you wait.

After a short delay this is the final result......

I'm really pleased. It is polished stainless, not chrome and sets the back of the car off very nicely.

Made by SiFab.

(Apologies for the unpolished tail pipes)

Peter
