Don't miss music, but do miss traffic and news...  For traffic, Graham, you may wish to consider investing in a new SatNav. I've just picked up a TomTom Via 62, which uses your phone's data link to provide live updates of traffic conditions along your route. It shows you how far away the hold up is, how long it's likely to delay you, and gives you the option of seeking an alternate route. The other nice thing that will appeal to map-lovers like you and me is that you can go on to Google Maps, set out a route that takes you on the roads you want to go on, and you can then convert the route to a GPX file and download it to the SatNav. I used it yesterday to plot a very quiet B road route to Bicester and back, and it worked very well. No news, though... Forever now to be known as a 'Tim Tim'..

One of the things on my bucket list is to drive to the South of France avoiding the peage - I hope to do it one day, but would definitely need this type of thing.
I've done it a few times, it's a long drive (we did it in two days, stopping at Sarlat La Caneda on the way) but well worth it in my view. Loads of lovely little towns to stop off at, a very relaxed way of doing it. Our most-used route was St-Malo-Rennes-Angers-Poitiers-Angouleme-Perigeux-Sarlat-Montauban-Castres-Albi-Carcasonne-Narbonne. If I ever do it, I shall hopefully remember to consult you! I have driven from Marseille (area) to Guildford as a single journey (stopping only for petrol) many times, apart from it being rather boring, I don't have the stamina I used to. I'd love to tootle through the smaller towns and take a few days doing it.

Well keeping it going, the reason for the music....
Our house is between Limoges and Angouleme. The plan is to go to the Circuit de Remparts in September, thought it would be good to go in the Mog.
Anyone been? Any tips?

I like the sound of that.... One of the things on my bucket list is to drive to the South of France avoiding the peage - I hope to do it one day, but would definitely need this type of thing. I've had that facility on my bike Garmin for at least 10 years. You can either plot on Google Earth or use Garmi Basecamp on the PC and then squirt it down to the satnav.

In my 2000 Plus 8 I've got an old radio/tape player that came with the car and I considered changing it for something more modern. In the end I kept it, but bought a Belkin In Car Tunecast cable that plugs into the lighter socket. It's a charger and a radio transmitter so I just broadcast my own radio station and tune the car to the same frequency. It charges my phone and also plays the audio instructions from the sat nav on my phone too. The audio quality isn't as good as Bluetooth connections but for ~£40 it's been a good solution for me.

Perhaps the satisfaction of listening to music in a Morgan depends on the style of music. At home I'm open minded to different sorts of music, from chamber, classical concert to rock and funk and mainly jazz. I would never wear ear plugs when driving, even worse if your car herself produces a lot of noises anyway like an open or closed Mog, I have to have "open" ears for what is going on around me.
Listening to music in the Mog is of course somehow limited - mainly with regards to physical circumstances like the described noise. My solution is that I listen to jazz (I play a little bit myself in a hobbyist band) and when the noise is getting dominant I nevertheless can listen to the lines and phrases of the solist. So nothing is nicer than hearing Chet Baker or Dexter Gordon or whosever as a Solist...the band has been dived under due to the noise, but I can follow the solo lines of Coltrane clearly, like a story which is been telling. That is great fun and the total opposite of trying to get "hifi" in the Mog. Only the midband of frequencies survives, which is enough for me to make me happy.

I posted similar in another thread, but my Plus4 came with an Alpine radio that has a USB connector on the front, through which my iPhone plays music - I have created a 'Morgan playlist'..
I bought an 'Ipow non-slip dash mat' (about £8 from Amazon) to hold the iPhone steady on the tunnel (between the gearstick/handbrake). It works really well - no drilling or any damage to the trim.
I use the free 'Waze App' on the iPhone for Navigation, which works really well and cuts into the music to give turn-by-turn directions through the car speakers. So, no need to fix a SatNav - just use your phone. The phone holder fits other models (Samsung etc.) and can be put in the glovebox when not in use.
I also bought the Alpine remote control from Amazon, as it helps change station / volume etc. without having to fiddle with buttons under the dash while driving.

Top top man and top post Herbie, Miles in all their phases as well as Winton, Branford, McCoy Tyner, Sonny Rollins ,Jaco & 80's Courtney Pine sound good in my Mog but Terry Callier, Michael Franks & Greg Porter have given me a super Morgan driving soundtrack recently Although yesterday I played the New Rolling Stones album LOUD and it certainly greased the wheels
