Yes, it's the Morgan virgin again ! My car is a bog standard 1982 4/4 CVH engined 4 seater, and I am just wondering what all you experts reckon a reasonable fuel consumption should be ? I'm getting 30 mpg, driving in a sensible speeds ? Cheers.

My 1985 car averaged 27-30 - it had a re-jetted carburettor and a K&N filter.

I used to get anywhere between 22'ish and virtually 40 from my earlier (1976) X-flow. The 22 when out to play on track - I wasn't trying hard enough Near 40 when pottering along enjoying the scenery...

When I had the CVH engine in my 4/4 I used to average 34-36mpg, I don't recall it varying that much with different driving styles. It was a carb version, with a K&N filter and a manual choke conversion.

My CVH with K&N plus fast road cam and straight through exhaust has always given 30 mpg and only give higher when at a steady speed on motorways.

I had a '93 cvh efi, not carbs and was getting 35 on decent runs. Less when in a hurry! K&N filter, no other mods. Nice stright through exhaust.

I get roughly 200 miles on a tank. I haven't done the maths - don't want to.

My Zetec 4/4 did just over 30 mpg, my T16 engined +4 29 mpg. The 3 l Roadster is running at just a tad over 28mpg, I can get 42 mpg on a long slow run or 26 when pushing hard. The need for the grin factor means I spend at lot of time at over 3k rpm in the fun power band & the fuel usage is higher.
