A link in another thread on TM took me to the Life's website. Interestingly all the Morgans for sale on there, bar one, averaged less than 2000 miles a year.

Today I took my bike for its MoT and worked out what my average annual mileage was. A bit to my surprise, it came out at 1700 miles a year.

So wondering if this was a pattern I had a look at autotrader website and again, with a few exceptions, an annual mileage in the 1500/2000 seemed typical for the Morgans on sale. It certainly is of the Ferraris that I have looked at and also of most bikes for sale.So maybe thats the answer. For a toy car or bike that is used for pleasure, typical mileages are 1500 / 2000 per year.

Obviously if someone like Peter uses his toy car or bike for work, then its a different issue.

1700 miles a year?
We have exceeded that in one touring holiday - once in 2015 and again in 2016. Now planning 2017.

Do you think some of it is also due to restricted mileage on insurance policies.

I certainly think this is a factor but it's mainly down to so many Morgans being their owners second, third or even fourth cars.
Whilst ours was not purchased as an investment, it was purchased as a fun car and one to use to tour Europe when I finally decide to stop working.
We did just over 3000miles in the first year but that included the excellent LMC.

Possibly, but that is a user choice. G&W will offer unlimited miles for a small increase in premium. I dropped to 5000 miles for 2017 as I'm unlikely to exceed it because I'm no longer allowed to use the car for business.

The new owners do not allow open cars to be used on company business: too much of a "risk" should I e carrying a colleague..... which oldgit came up with that decision?

When I built My +8 Bitsa out of old/damaged Morgan Parts I was constantly challenged that it would not be worth the money it cost Me to build it. That is true!!! But what fun I had building my Bitsa. As I had no intention of selling it I was not worried about the Market Price or the fact the Title does not have a Morgan Factory Chassis Number. But now that I am 87 and the years I can use this +8 Bitsa are small. I wonder about My decision. In any event I made that decision and no time to back up now. So I will sell my Other 2 Morgans and keep the +8 Bitsa. It is a delight to drive and the satisfaction I get from driving a bit of "Organized Junk" is huge. Also there is little about a +8 that I don't understand. EFI is about all.
