Quite like the Plus 8 but I think MMC should offer an alternative design.

In my Plus 4, I can get a weeks supply of luggage behind the seats plus the side screeens (for some personal aesthetic reason, can't stand seeing that odd shape bag in the luggage rack).

In the P8 there seems to be no space whatsoever behind the seats, and I doubt you could even get the side screens in (might be wrong) and many dont seem to even have a luggage rack.

Further more, I think from a side view, it looks too short behind the seats - see image and even the hood looks squashed up.

We don't buy em for practicality, but I go on holiday a lot in mine and it is a factor and I think it would look better extended by a foot or so at the rear.

Maybe two versions could be offered if they can keep the cost down to see how it goes.

They look just right as they are - I think you'd have more chance of Beyoncé donating hers than MMC modifying the series at this stage.

You could of course buy one and have it modified to your liking.

When I test drove the Aero +8 , I put my camera bag behind the seats , and then realised that was just about all the luggage I could carry there. The independent rear suspension takes up a lot of room.

Although I have not tried a practical test yet , I fear that the bonnet stays are going to restrict the amount of luggage the new Aero can carry , and there is no possibility of a luggage rack.

There are things about the Aeros I really love (ride comfort, brakes , torque, etc) but I am afraid that luggage space could be a deal breaker for me (and SWMBO)

The plus 8 does have a Sidescreens slot behind the seats. If you don't use it there's quite a bit of space for oddments. Also a small toolbox style lockable box built into the rear shelf. The optional luggage rack has Sidescreens holders too.
There's some space behind the seats for soft bags and coats even with the roof down. We've coped quite well and no one, repeat no one has as much cr*p as my swmbo when we go away as our friends will confirm!

Early ones had the slot and locker, later ones do not: Tarka has just an upholstered shelf.

If you don't need the seat fully back there is room behind the seats for side screens, but I tend to use the rack and use the space behind the seats for coats, and other essential stuff!

Yes, agreed, the suspension box makes the rear shelf smaller, but there is stillroom for 2 soft bags on top of essentials like Euro Travel Pack, can of goo, compressor and so on. In the photo above I'd guess that the hod is sitting up because there is a load of stuff underneath.

Also because the +8 is wider than a +4 the space between seat and door is wide enough for a large shoulder bag on the passenger side.

But as you say, for serious luggage the rear rack is essential.

I think there is zero chance of that! Production of the Plus 8 is very small, in the UK less than 10 sales a year and it will die in a couple of years once the V8 stock is sold out.

MMC would say they already do offer two versions on the same chassis and the extended version is the Aero 8!!

I'm with you Clipper the luggage rack just spoils the look in back. The wife and I are used to touring on a motorcycle, so the space behind the seat is more then what we need for a two week tour.

I used to go touring on a motorcycle with just a small back pack, then along came girlfriends etc. As soon as you get your romantic life sorted out you discover it comes with a lot of baggage. This created a requirement for; first saddle bags, then hard panniers, top case tank bag etc. Then all the above with a sidecar.
With small cars you start with the boot, then overflow to the back seat, finishing with the boot full and a roof rack to carry everything ultimately moving to a station wagon.
Don't even get me started on the Morgan. Suffice to say we leave for a weekend with enough for a month and come back with most things that weren't even unpacked. Plus there is an overflow of "shopping".

My theory is that luggage mysteriously expands to fill the space available, and, there is never enough space available swear banghead
