There is one issue here which I am surprised no one has raised - the poor quality of Porsche 6 pot engines. Right the way through the era of the 996 and 997 model 911s and the corresponding Boxter / Caymans, they have suffered badly from scored bores and intermediate shaft failures. Have a look at http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=48&t=1052310and bear in mind that to some degree, owners will fight shy of admitting an issue which would devalue their cars. Has yopur Trad given you that sort of problem? No it hasnt but you maybe have had an occasional bolt fall off Academic. I'm buying a newly designed four cylinder with a decent warranty. No. Not academic. I wasnt commenting on your new car which I am sure will be peerless, but on the suggestion elsewhere in these posts that somehow problems in 50k cars only occur in Morgans. It is of course twaddle and Porsche have a shameful history of recent engine issues even in 100k cars. Yep , nasty business really , make a change from Brit cars being blamed for unreliability .

This is really one of those apples and pears arguments. I bought my Morgan because I was seeking a vintage driving experience without any of the hassles, and on this it really delivered. I didn't suffer any of the issues that plagued Bob, and in all the car corresponded with what I had hoped it would be. It provided me with a hassle free, inexpensive and enjoyable 5 years. The Mercedes SLC I replaced it with is probably the polar opposite of the Morgan, but then I was looking for something completely different from it. I wanted a car that would be quick, yet comfortable and practical to use 365 days a year, (rather than running the Morgan and the Mini as an everyday car). It had to be a car that  would be happy to drive, but which would be more fun than a mundane metal box on wheels. I feel this car meets the brief very well too, but I would't compare it directly to the Morgan. I like both cars, but for very different reasons.

Right, stop arguing and fire up the BBC iplayer, Porsche Boxsters old and new are featured on the the Gaelic program I posted about, it's really quite good.
Air an rathed on BBC alba.
It also just occurred to me, I'm actually qualified to make a sensible comment on the subject. I've already had a 944, a Carrera 3.2, a boxster and finally a 911, they were perfectly fine and reliable, all lovely to drive, but that itch has been well a truly scratched. I don't have any of them now, the first two made money, the modern ones lost a pile, the only one I regret selling is the '86 3.2, it was beautiful, it's probably wrapped round a tree now though.

We're all different and there are just enough oddballs to keep Morgan in business. Long may that continue. I think this is the important point (even related to the thread about the new +4 at a non-Morgan dealer). They don't need to sell that many to survive and not many more on top to thrive and the world is a large place.

Coming to Morgan from a life of classic cars (or bikes) is a seamless transition and there's really no difference to the experience.
But coming to Morgan from a life of mainstream cars will probably be difficult. I have an old friend who tried an MGB in the eighties, and didn't enjoy it at all. Since then he's only had mainstream cars. He's very happy with his Volvo SUV. He's been in my Roadster and just doesn't get it. I've been in his Volvo and I couldn't live with that, even if I was offered one free.....
We're all different and there are just enough oddballs to keep Morgan in business. Long may that continue. I think we have a nail/head impact. You are exactly right, Dave.

If I was in the position to buy a Morgan, then I'd struggle to justify ordering one over a Lotus Elise. Note; I'm under 40.

I like cars made out of ali rather than plastic although Tvr's are a lot of fun and noise !

Having had the good fortune to own a TR6, E Type, Jensen Healey, MGB, and latterly the plus4 in the past, I don't think I came to the ownership of a Morgan with unrealistic expectations. I have found this forum to be an incredibly useful source of information and thought by posting my own experience it would simply impart an accurate report as a point of information. Any firm that can make and sell things, has my admiration and I too hope that Morgan can prosper. I would hope that user experience filters back to MMC and that areas in which they can improve are addressed. Happy motoring. Over and out.

I found my ownership of classic cars (vintage Astons) to be very frustrating - always something going wrong and small fortunes being poured into them. A Morgan gives me the classic car experience but without the constant issues.
There are very few niggles with the Aero +8 and it requires very little (almost zero) attention.
If it wasn't a Morgan then probably an F Type.
