I have a new plus 4 with auto conversion by Vitesse. (Problem with left hip). Auto mode is good, place to rest left foot comfortable, sequential manual shift great fun.. fuel consumption heavy... 23 - 25 mpg, 600 miles on car, yes it will improve when moe miles on clock, and warmer weather.. but any one know why GDI engine with auto box so thirsty?? Woul duratech have Beeb better?

Firstly, welcome to TM It may not just be the auto box. I was suffering with heavy fuel consumption on my new Plus 4 GDi, but after an ECU remap it appears to have improved. I haven't been able to tell by how much as I haven't used the car enough since it was done. It might be worth enquiring at your local dealer.

As Alan says I have had the same re map on a similar car and use it every week and so far average has risen by 5 to 8 mpg .

F12Mog, Now that's an interesting car. As Neil said, you must be the very first Auto +4 on the forum. We will all be very interested in how you get on. If you are unhappy with the fuel consumption, do go along to your dealer and get the ECU up grade. I had mine done a while back and over the following 7000 miles a reasonably accurate measure of miles between fill ups shows an improvement of around 10mpg so well worth doing especially as it is a free up grade!! I hope you enjoy your car in the coming season.
Here for a good time not a long time!! Reg

As car loosened up, a slight improvement became apparent. Checked actual comsumption against indicated and found 20% improvement. Indicated was 27mpg, actual was 32mpg. Took car back to Morgan, replaced chip, did not notiice any improviement in fuel consumption.
Had suspension upgrade from New Elms... car steering improved at speed, and progressive ride on shocks more comfortable. No detriment to normal road use, car still feels very sporty. Adjustable shocks can be sett to individual taste. Wife agreed ride much more comfortable. ...Ray.

I realise it’s been a while since you posted this thread but wondered how you’re getting on with the autobox, especially in view of a potential new CX Plus 4 hopefully with an auto version? Curious to know (without wishing to embarrass re specifics) if the conversion by Vitesse was costly/worthwhile? Currently have a DSG type box in my A3 which is quite smooth and with Lady HB keen on moving away from our manual box in the Mog one day in the future (not just yet) I am interested in the options that may present themselves in the next 18 months or so....and thus am interested in your view 😇 Thanks HB
