I hope it's OK to post this up here.

Some of you may recall I wrote and published a small book last year called 'confessions from quality control'. Some of you even bought it, thank you, and for those who didn't it's in the top twenty motoring books on Amazon here. Richard Porter (him of TopGear and SniffPetrol fame) called it "hilarious". Mind you, for the sake of balance, Noel Edmonds called me "a tw*t".

Anyway, spurred on by that I have written a sequel. It's a bit of a whopper. It covers my many automotive adventures, from early jaunts up the Alps in hire cars, to writing for car mags, to unwittingly becoming a TV presenter. Written in my usual self-deprecating style I revisit some interesting destinations to relive the antics of some of my heros, famous people such as Fangio and Hopkirk, and lesser known (but no less interesting) people such as Albert Ball, Jock Horsfall and Roy James. Cars? From Fiat 500s (hence the cover) to Maseratis, oddball Volvos and rotten old Jaguars, there's quite a variety. There is also quite a lot of Morgan content. I hope Charles Morgan forgives me if he ever reads it. The cover will look rather like this;

Anyway, ramble over, it might not be everyone's cup of tea but you can pre-order via KickStarter online here; https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bod...profile_created

Comments and feedback welcome. smile

Don't think I would worry about what Edmonds thought of you . But it did make me chuckle if he called you that what would he think of me If I put pen to paper. innocent rofl

A positive bonus to be called a tw*t by Noel Edmunds I would think!

Thank you! This book is about three times the size. In fact, it keeps growing. Everytime I think it's complete I come up with another adventure, and another chapter. I write this in haste, as I'm off to collect a Caterham to do something naughty on a Dutch beach tomorrow morning!

Thanks for your backing. It's worth mentioning that the book will be cheaper to pre-order on the Kickstarter than it will be to buy when it gets published on Amazon afterwards. smile

Just pledged, I look forward to reading it. Glad to hear its even bigger, although I may have to explain to the wife why I am spending even longer reading on the loo!

Caterham sounds like fun, enjoy whatever "naughty" plan you have for it. laugh2

Thanks Chris.

Funding target was hit after 24 hours, it still has about a month to run! I'm always surprised at how popular my writing is and never take this great support for granted.

The book will be cheaper to pre-order via KickStarter than it will to buy on Amazon aftewards, it's not too lack to buy in for those who might be interested in my automotive adventures.

Thanks again, chaps smile

Looks like an excellent read, not least because if you take "ending up hooning around France in a broken Maserati" and add the quote from Richard Porter, who's day job is script editor on The Grand Tour, who spent their last episode hooning around France in broken Maseratis... then this book'll be worth a read to find out what the GT mob will get up to next... rofl
