Save your money! A McLaren 570s is £500 cheaper and British to boot. smile

Where???
I've been looking at them...nothing, even used, for less than £150K.

Indeed, but looking at McLaren 2017 prices the review seems to be wrong!

Very true (at least economically) - certainly as applied in the two cases I mentioned. There are others, but my fingers get tired smile

My 180 is of the age/miles where cam chain wear is a potential issue. I'm going to ask a local MB specialist for a quote to change the chain. The car is worth about £4k and is on a Mercedes personal finance contract that ends in October, with £2k left to buy the car.
If the cam chain replacement is more than that then I'll consider just handing it back. But I like the little thing...so let's see.

My problem too. Although Sue doesn't drive (just sleeps in the passenger seat) we both really like the car.
The problem is only the C180k and C200k M271(?) motor. If your MB independent will do the work do let me know. Neither of the Indies here in Cheltenham will take it on. One suggested parking it on the local Merc dealers forecourt with the instruction "Fix It - it's poor design as Mercedes are well aware". There may have been recalls.
Yours may be a later engine without the problem - ask your dealer.
Looks like I either put thicker oil in and run it until it expires, or trade it. Anyone got a Volvo 240 that's not too rusty?

These were the one's we lusted and dream of as teenagers I only ever saw one and I think Gerry Marshall was racing it at Snetterton back in the day. Even he made it look a handful.

Sadly no, but we had a 240 when the boys were young & had seven trouble free years in that tank..! Looked as good when we sold it as it did when it was bought...almost...! Swapped it for a LR90. D'oh!

The old school 850 is worth considering too. I loved the old one we had before we chopped it for a V70.
