Waiting for spare parts is unacceptable. I had to wait weeks for a part for my Roadster that had failed - a brand new car. Really not good.

That aside, there is something a little more unique about a Morgan. Porsche, Jaguar, Mercedes, BMW, Audi - all excellent cars, but they lack the individuality of a Morgan. Which would I rather look at parked outside a country pub?

However, if the ownership experience means waiting weeks for spare parts, then I would admit to having a sense of humour failure.

That must be a complete PITA. May I ask what bits you are waiting for?

Hello All

First impressions after about 3000 miles of varied terrain.

Last week a drive from West London to the Lake District and then on to Inverness and the start of the North Coast Route 500. From Inverness to Applecross and then Ullapool, John O'Groats, Tain, Inverness and then down the East Coast picking up the A1 back to London.




No rattles, gauges worked, nothing fell off and a huge amount of fun. Grinned a few times.

I will admit to missing mine occasionally - usually when surrounded by other Porkers, such as yesterday's "Classics on the Hill".
But then I used the 4/4 and it was a very brief feeling of loss...

Years ago with the cars of that era every Sunday was a quick check time. Fluids etc mainly. Once a month a bit more for extra checks. By making sure the basics were all good there were few problems. When changing the car then the battery, ignition system, carbs, brakes etc were all given a once over.
People I know who have classics fall into two camps. Those who fettle, maintain and keep in good order.
Those who drive, break down, whinge, keep having easily sorted issues.
Time and effort to sort out then simple routine checks make most classics decent cars unless you buy a poor example to start with.
If you want a car to just jump in and forget about until MOT/service time then get a modern tintop.
I bought a Metro as a work car/runabout ( district nurse). Time was spent keeping it reliable. When lease cars were an option she got one. New car at 3 years, all costs covered, breakdown/ replacement available. Cheap as only private use paid for. A no- brainer .
