Welcome Lee.

Sounds like the Aero (most versions) will be right up your street. Make certain the car you buy has done a few miles and been sorted as they require a little more tweaking than Lambo's and AMG's but provide a lot more wow for the buck.

The Aero models have been largely the same since the Series 4 convertible and AeroMax. In general the 4.8L double vanos V8 and auto/manual box has driven them all.

AeroMax
Aero Supersports (Targa)
Aero Coupe (same but hardtop)
Aero Plus8 (trad looking)
New Aero 5 Convtb.

Most lively - Plus 8 Manual
Most GT - Max/Coupe/Supersports Auto.

The Auto actually goes better in the Cpe/SS/Max than most people expect. Its not a ragged edge type car. Its a thing of great beauty.

I attended a dinner at the Dorchester and they moved a brand new Ferrari to put the Morgan in a slot opposite the entrance. When I came out they said the Coupe has more pictures snapped than any other car they have ever seen.

You may find you keep it longer than expected.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Fantastic! Is this the one on ebay that requires a bit of T-Cut?

My apologies deano - it seams I have crossed wires about another car.
I've just spoken to the factory and the car you menton is still available, although I'm doubting the £150k asking price. I'll likely go and view it and see if there is any movement.

I believe MMC will not sell the CM Max for less than 150k

Welcome and you are making the right decision ..

I have The Geneva Motor show car from 2012 (the first coupe made) and after discussion with MMC and my aero register it seems there are about 14 coupe's we can find so really rare - A few more Supersports and then of course the Max - all based around the 4.8 and same chassis

I am delighted with my Coupe and its great for shows etc and a sunday lunch but built for touring at high speed with a HUGE boot. You will find them comfortable and power - well I did 158 in mine and it was still going and 0-60 is 4. something so will eat alive most other cars around

I think the residual values will slowly climb due to the rareity and for me its a difficult one to sell mine at some point or keep it

I suppose it will come down to money in the end - so for the right price I may be persuaded at some point to sell

Would agree with the other comments try a few as they are all different one thing is for sure you will get a huge amount of smiles and attention with these that you dont get with most other mass produced cars

Have a look at this video of my car it gives quite a good idea of the model

Also another good watch is the visit to the factory and discussion with Matt Humphries the designer
Aero Coupe with matt Humphries

Good luck and let us know how you get on

Lee,

As the happy owner of Aeromax chassis 51 which I bought last September I would certainly recommend the experience. I previously had an Audi R8 for ~4yrs as my ‘boys toy’ and although I thought it a joy to drive, my test drive in the Aeromax I went on to buy was certainly a more visceral experience – apart from the look of it which is what first attracted me (it really is a beautiful machine which is smaller in the flesh than you expect when you have only viewed pictures) the thing that ‘hooked’ me was the sound it makes under hard acceleration. As others have said, if you can you should try a number of different models, although their rarity at least for Aeromax’s, Coupe’s and Super-sports, may mean that if you want to buy reasonably quickly you only have the chance to try one of them. It is then a matter of personal taste, I was only interested in the Aeromax, which in my opinion is by far the best looking.

As to price, the last three Aeromax’s I have seen for sale in the last year (including my own) have all gone up for £125K or thereabouts which in my opinion is considerably overpriced and certainly well beyond (>25%) what I ended up purchasing mine for.

Happy to offer you any advice you want if you contact me by PM.

Best of luck whatever you choose to do.

Hello!

& hmm... Williams had a Supersports for sale last month @ £99k - it was on their stand @ all morgans day at Blenheim.

It's not now on their website - so I guess it's sold, and sold quite quickly too. Might be worth a phone call though to find out where it went.

Gajet / Aeromax 51 / The Customer,
Many thanks for your comments.

Is that your car in the SuperCar Driver video Gajet? One word. Stunning. If that is your car, I guess we both know Mr Thorby?

Aeromax 51, thanks for the info on prices. In my head, the price. It's hard to value a car when nothing else on the market to compare it with. The last I want to do is significantly overpay. I'm guessing £127k might be a little steep for the Max I've seen. What is a reasonable price if condition is as good as the dealer says it is?????

The Customer - thanks for that - I'll give Williams a call tomorrow - they may know of another car on the horizon.

Hi Lee, I have one of the prototype Aeromax’s, chassis 600 which I have had for a couple of years now. For me the Max is an art form, a piece of automotive sculpture that IMHO has no contemporary equals.

At the time of its launch it competed with the Alfa 8C, and with limited resources at the time I took what I thought would be the safer bet from a residual and resale perspective and opted for the Italian marque. When Mr Tony advertised his Max a couple of years ago, it was an opportunity I could not pass on. I am fortunate enough to have a stable which includes a 330 GTC and DB4 from the sixties and an F40 and 599 GTO from a more recent era. The Max sits equally at home in both camps, neither out of place at a classic meet nor a supercar Sunday and its this ability to wear multiple clothes that for me forms part of its appeal.

From a residual perspective, I don’t think its ever going to be a stellar performer, model and brand rarity mixed with a strong domestic appeal will preserve value but I think it’s a limited market and the absence of global appeal like some of the Italian marques will hamper its trajectory.

If circumstances ever changed, I have no doubt it would be the last one out of the door!
