Thinking about ZV7 for the Merc. However, it may not be around long enough to need tyres...

Peter (J) I put Michelin Pilot Supersport on the S2 to replace the aging Vredesteins and now that they are scrubbed in they are excellent.
Steering feels more confident, grip in wet, slippery and dry is more effective. Slide is later and more gradual (whoops). Well worth the extra.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

It is my understanding that tyres should be changed at a maximum of 6 years, irrespective of tread. However, Felix42's spare, IF it has been 'kept in the dark' would be OK as a 'get you home' tyre. Re balancing weights:- depending on the out of balance forces,to properly balance a wheel might need weights on the inside or outside of the rim, so worrying about unsightly weights on the outside, might not produce a properly balanced wheel.

My alloys on my Roadster did need balance weights on the outer rims of the front wheels. The only way to reduce my shimmy!

I have weights on the outside (including the beer gut), Allon White told me it was an EU regulation!!! Would prefer to have them hidden (& the beer gut)

You might imagine that I wouldn't want balance weights on the outside. But balance weights are part & parcel of classic cars, especially with wires. So I'm happy to have weights on the outside. What does bug me now though is that because they are no longer made of lead, some weights rust, and I really don't like rusty weights.

I think I have OCD starting as I hate them on the outside.

I have some on the inside but some had to be on the outside.

One of the advantages of the black wire wheels. On my Mog I painted the balance weights black. You could hardly see them.
