With foreign drivers they get fined at the roadside, if they don't pay the truck is clamped. I didn't realise this was possible. Which statute is this done under please? Can't check any statutes at the moment as on 2 weeks A/L. But Traffic officers now have the power to issue on the spot fines for minor offences and can take deposits against more serious offences or where a driver elects to go to court. Up to £500. Only used where driver does not have UK address or cannot provide an address suitable for service of summons.

Its only a matter of time now. http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2017/...g-deaths-mount/Apple, maker of the ever-popular iPhone, is being sued on allegations that its FaceTime app contributed to the highway death of a 5-year-old girl named Moriah Modisette. In Denton County, Texas, on Christmas Eve 2014, a man smashed into the Modisette family's Toyota Camry as it stopped in traffic on southbound Interstate 35W. Police say that the driver was using the FaceTime application and never saw the brake lights ahead of him. In addition to the tragedy, father James, mother Bethany, and daughter Isabella all suffered non-fatal injuries during the crash two years ago. Not sensible as a court action but given it is now happening and in the press the trouble begins. Next they will blame the steering wheel r seat height adjuster. PEBKAC (problem exists between keyboard and chair)
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Devon & Cornwall Police 12 hrs · The Devon and Cornwall Police and Dorset Police Alliance Roads Policing Team is taking part in the first of a series of national enforcement campaigns cracking down on people who use their phones when driving, in advance of changes to legislation on mobile phone offences to come in March 2017. During the week-long campaign, running from Monday 23 January to Sunday 29 January 2017, offenders will be reminded of the dangers of being distracted at the wheel, and of the upcoming legislative changes. Inspector Peter Thomas from the Alliance Roads Policing Team said: “It has been illegal to use a hand-held phone or similar device while driving, or while stationary with the engine running, since December 2003. However, many motorists still fail to understand that it is simply not possible to use a phone and be in proper control of a vehicle at the same time. “This operation comes in advance of changes in legislation this year which, if you are caught using a mobile device inappropriately while driving, mean that penalties for doing so will be tougher, and deservedly so."
