Thanks John, that seems like a good idea. The only potential flaw is that the garage is underground and they say "when exposed to daylight, even through glass and on cloudy days."

I take your point on calculators working with electric lights, but does anyone know if this Charger will a) work indoors from an electric light source and b) will it be safe to leave connected as it is not a battery conditioner?

Cheers
Brian

I think chargers offer a bigger boost than these sorts of things.
This one is described as a trickle charger which is what I assume the conditioner is doing most of the time.

Trickle Charger

If I understand the technology behind these correctly they should work with all light sources although the output may vary. The ideal way to measure it would be to leave the aero and check the power in the battery and then monitor it a week later to see how much has disappeared. If you can disconnect the battery and then leave one of these attached for a week you will be able to see if its made up the shortfall.

If its topped it up to half the original level then simple maths would suggest doubling the panels surface area.

As I've said before it would be far easier if you let me look after it for you. thumbs

Then of course once you have calculated how large you need you can go totally over the top and get something REALLY big from Maplin.

Just don't go licking the terminals like I did stars
Old habits die hard and I was once a bench engineer for a PC company, but i'm all better now.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

LOL,
Apparently 3 people per year die from testing the 9V PP3 battery with their tongues! scared

Still a bench engineer for an IT company, who wishes he'd never left radio...

Cheers,

Graham Brilliant if true, out of interest do you have a source for this, or is it another urban myth?

Note to self stop testing batteries with tongue. tongue2

It was a number of years ago John.
A report on accidents in the home on something like Radio 4.
The general public may have taken heed by now and found another way to kill themsleves, errr, test batteries wink.

A quick Google brought the following up as the first result:

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/07/28/the_odd_body_death_by_battery/

So, it seems unlikely, but not impossible.

Cheers,

Graham,

This is the bit that caught my eye

Asked by Liam Johnson of Frankfurt, Germany

"Here's Liam's question in full:

First the simple question: Can you die from testing a 9V battery on your tongue? I have read newspaper reports (around 1990) of a woman dying after her boyfriend used a 9V battery as sexual stimulation."

This now raises the following question. Can a trickle charger be used as a form of electrical viagra? read
