Hello all.
The recent post on tyre age pricked my conscience, so I need to replace the old 185/70/15 tyres on my '82 4/4 and have heard that going back to the original 165/80/15 profile is no bad thing ? I would describe my driving as 'sensibly spirited' on local rural country roads. So I can't see I really need the performance of the Avon CR6-ZZ's as fitted, and could just fit more modest 185's. But, would I regret going back to skinny 165 Conti or Vredestein tyres ??
Any advice and thoughts welcome.
Cheers.

Regret?
Contis, probably.
Vredesteins have better grip...

what the man said. Especially in the wet, my experience of CT22s is really not very good. Vredesteins, on the other hand, I find to be excellent.

Vredestein classics are available in both dimensions (185/70/r15 as well 165/80).
I would not change them for Contis.

Vredesteins (T-Trak2) it is for me, well, on the rear axle so far.
I still have Contis on the front but they will be ditched some time in the next year.

Thanks for all your thoughts. I'm going for 165 Vred T-Trac2's in the next few weeks, and I'll let know if I end up in the ditch !!
Kind regards.

I have been running them since last summer and I am very happy with them.
Let us know how it goes!

Thanks Glenn.
At £55 a pop, they are well worth a try.
Cheers.

£55 ! swear
Blimey, where did you go?
I got mine from Paul Harris Classic Tyres (Cannock) and paid around £100 each including inner tubes and balancing.

At £55 I think that is the price of tyre on its own Glenn...
