Is the club becoming 'green' and we are watching our carbon footprints? A car owners treasure hunt on foot Is anyone else a little dubious about how it will all work out ? Buxton is a popular place at the best of times so with normal tourists + those that want to see the Morgans + the Club members where will we all park ? Can someone put my mind at rest please

There were lots of negative comments about parking and being asked to walk places on Mogtalk. So please do not lets go there. However, I do have a sneaky feeling there will be a 'Bun Fight' over parking during the weekend which will probably spoil the event. I have stayed in many locations (Hotel Car Parks) in the past where you fear moving the car lest it is impossible to ever return. I fail to see anyone trying to Police the Hotel parking. As a Yorkshire friend once told me "We save seats with our A** where I come from"

Agreed Frank. I'm not going to Buxton, but if it falls on a weekend when I'm heading for Saddleworth then it's on what has become my usual route. Be silly not to stop of to view some of the activities... Cheers,

Well, if you park at your hotel, then go out, don't expect a space when you return, but that's how all hotels work where we've stayed. Buxton has a lot to offer, but it will be very crowded on a summer weekend. I'm travelling from home on the Saturday. It kicks off at 0800hrs, so I'll aim to arrive soon after. All those staying will still be tucking into their F.E.B.s The innovations competition gets parking at the Pavilion, and I suspect the Concours will also be there (easy to look up). There's an unwritten rule to car events. If you want a good place to park - enter the concours. I hope to meet up with some of you on Saturday. Sunday I'm not so sure about. I might not bother because it will be busier and much harder to park. PS Entry to the innovations competition is free, but you do need an innovation..... so get cracking. There's still time.

Please check the MogMMX website Dave, I think they may have moved the activities to Sunday (or some of them?)

It seemed strange to me that the "event" is spread over a number of locations and attendees are expected to stay in hotels. When I used to go to MG events and when I do go to Land Rover events they tend to use a huge showground (Silverstone, Newark, Billing Aquadrome for instance) or private park (Knebworth) and most people camp. MGs and Land Rovers do tend to have more luggage space of course. Ignoring that though the event arena's have loads of parking space for day visitors too.
I won't be going to Buxton because the description just seems like it's far too spread out. I'm kind of pleased to hear you moaning about - it seems now like it's not "the norm" and therefore I might find a MOG event that I like the sound of in future years.

The next one is at Newmarket as far as I recall.
That will be problematical. It's a right trek from here.
Frank....... a short extract from the regs...... The Morgan Sports Car Club Innovations

1. The MSCC will hold an innovations competition on Saturday 19 June 2010 in a designated area at the Pavilion Gardens, Buxton.

Thank you all for your responses. We shall be day visitors only and not in the fortunate position ( or not !) of a hotel space. The wife's 'dicky' knee and my fear of leaving the +8 in a crowded public car park is making us think twice this year about going. I feel it is a 'jolly' for the few and not for the masses. What would happen if we all entered the Concourse It would be worth the £10 entrance fee for a decent parking space

I feel it is a 'jolly' for the few and not for the masses. With a quoted 600 members booked (I guess more than 600 cars then ) it cannot 'just be a Jolly for the Few'. It is a Club event for all to enjoy after all. We messed up at Cheltenham by only going on Rainy Saturday 'caus we did not know the form, so we are hoping to enjoy our first big gathering outside of the Centenary events. If its not 'Jolly', we probably won't bother again.
