Hi All, When did Morgan start using the MX-5 gearbox in the 4/4 and +4? I thought it was 2010 onward, but some of the sold (and for sale) cars online seem to have the box at around 2008 onward? Am I just confused or misinformed? Thanks and hope everyone is well. Rylan

So it would seem then that the MX-5 box only came into use in late 2011 early 2012 then as it ties in with Hannes?.
I suppose for ultimate clarification the factory could provide (almost) exact dates?
It seems I may have been confused then, most likely the new style of interior at the end of a mechanical run I suppose?

I was told by the factory staff at the Classic Car show in Nov 2011 that the MX5 5 speed box was fitted to the Plus 4 first and by about the time of the Classic Car show in November 2011 the 4/4 were being produced with the Mazda box.

My (early) 2012 4/4 Anniversary had the MX5 box. Dave that's interesting.... My Anniversary car was the first built (No.1 of 31). I've not checked the unit itself (and wouldn't know what to look for) but asked the question of the selling dealer. Is there an easy way to differentiate between the two?

It's obvious when you know.......... All in the shape. Try Google pics - the M3W looks the same. Try this: http://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/83675/1Note the two concentric rings at the bellhousing end.
