If it is CAT B: - "Category B Insurance Write Off - the vehicle must not be used again but non- structural and roadworthy parts and components may be recovered for use in other vehicles. Care must be taken to ensure that they are not critical components with important safety functions.", then MMC are handling the situation exactly are they should be. But, as said before, if Aeromax 38 is now Category B, the dealer should not be representing it as anything but.

I understand that:
The vehicle details for AM59 RLF are:
Date of Liability 01 03 2011 Date of First Registration 25 03 2010 Year of Manufacture 2010 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 4799CC CO2 Emissions 260g/Km Fuel Type Petrol Export Marker Not Applicable Vehicle Status Licence Not Due Vehicle Colour BLUE Vehicle Type Approval M1
However:
59 reg is 1/9/2009 - 28/2/2010.
If first reg. in March 2010 there are several possibilities:
1. It was previously registered on a cherished plate in the UK between the above dates and re-registered on an age related plate.
2. It was previously registered abroad and was first registered in the UK as a 59 in March 2010 as the date of manufacture fell into the "59" reg. period.
3. This _is_ a cherished plate that was transferred on to the car when it was first registered as new in March 2010

This car with its owner attended the Aero event in the South of France last September 2009. I can't remember the plate it was on, either a German or a Swiss plate from bad memory, unfortunately the only photo I saved on Photobucket of this car doesn't have the reg. number My other photos are not on this notebook, but you can see it is the same car as it is the only 'Max (or Aero after the Series I) with a Motolita wheel fitted at the works. They had to fit a Series I column to it to make this possible. So it is definitely not a 2010 car... Brian P.S. Maybe someone else has photos of this car from this event.

Checking the insurance database the car has been register as an Aero 8 Sports, the same as my own car.
Whereas checking a members aeromax this is listed as a Morgan Aeromax.
The question then arises is this a foreign vehicle and is the registration from something else. If so the vehicle wont come up on an HPI check. Even stranger the Reg is listed on HPI but not on 2 of the other systems.
Probably a very logical explanation we just need to find it.

I don't think option 1 applies Steve (after considering all the comments flying about on MogTalk). Date of first reg as far as I can tell is when it was first registered in the UK for the road. Doesn't matter whether it was previously on a 'cherished' plate. If you look up S341 EGJ it wasn't first registered in 2009, but in '98. Some time later it was on a private or cherished plate, for a number of years (K600MOG, now on a Roadster) until the time I bought it last year. It was returned to an age related plate (OK the same reg as when first registered), but on the DVLA database the date of first registration is when first registered in this country. Mind you, DVLA do not always get things right (e.g. my TVR Tamin ) So, is it a foreign reg car, re-imported? To manage 9k miles in the space of a week or so would be some going! Cheers,
Graham (G4FUJ)

It seems to me that a way forward would be to wait for another damaged Max with all the right panels intact, and a salvageable tub and combine the two. Easier said than done, and a mongrel with a dodgy past won't be worth as much as a genuine car, but if such a Max turned up at say £60k, with a disclosed two into one history - I suspect that it would sell.................

The problem would be that you'd have to buy both donor cars for for a maximum of £30,000 each and even then, you'd be out of pocket for the labour... unless we could ask Uncle Dave to build it for us, out of the goodness of his heart

It would be good fun, and with loads left over at the end.

Would the 4.8l and Autobox on this model fit into a Series 2, do we have anyone here with sufficient understanding to be able to answer this ?
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.
