With Mobil 5-30W oil, pressure winter/summer:

cold motor: idle 3/4 bar, @3000 rpm 6/7 bar
hot motor after ~ 10'/15' : idle 2/2.5 bar, @3000 rpm 4 bar

Dépends on external temperature, oïl,rev and oïl pressure sender.

Thanks for all your responses.

Being the son of a retired mechanic (but no real interest at the time.....could kick myself now) I do find myself looking for issues which often aren't there. ooo

Your feedback has been reassuring thumbs

Mine smells of coolant when hot. It had a coolant leak when I got it and I think it's the residue - I'm hoping it'll burnt off eventually.

And at hot idle, it's pressure is under 1 bar. Worried me but the handbook says that is normal

the ford spec is min 1 bar at 800 rpm hot, min 2.5 bar at 2000 rpm and the blow off valve is set at 4 bar.

Often the case. When the anenometer on my boat fails I dont worry about the wind. When it works I do worry.

Interestingly , older classics had rows of guages to inform us , now those guages have disappeared from modern cars - less information from an information mad world !

The same is said of temp gauges. Both my Golfs have shown 12 o'clock 'normal' on the temp gauge when warmed up, and never moved from that position.

The capillary temp gauge on the MGB told the truth..........
