Very interesting your feedback!
Did not consider those elements and thought that Morgan being very special cars, they required specifically trained mechanics that you could only find in official dealers. A bit naive...

Why ever not? The bits that get the routine service are bog standard Ford, are they not? Nothing exotic in any way. And the rest of the car is far simpler than most modern cars. As for not checking the gearbox oil level, is it not filled for life as most modern cars are? Our family Merc certainly is. I dont think that the owners willingness to pay inflated dealer service charges is any real guide to the state of the car.

Well, 'filled for life' is OK, but replacing the oil now and again gets rid of the contaminants, and it's not expensive to change.
They wouldn't bother with a drain plug if they really wanted it filled for life. Some Ford boxes are like that, but if I had one I would pump it out.
Gearbox oil never comes out clean, and neither does diff oil......

Your right Dave, mine was mucky on the Mog after only a few thousand miles.
I'm never keen on this filled for life malarkey. I remember when ungreasable uj's and ball joints came out, had a life alright, of a few thousand miles and then had to be changed.

Just had the diff oil changed on mine at 23k. Gearbox level was fine.

I've never had a dealer stamp my log book! I just keep all the invoices. But I agree with SteveT.....dealer servicing will not increase the value of the car....it's more important to have proof of regular servicing.

I changed my gearbox oil and diff oil over Christmas after 10k miles, both came out clean as a whistle.
