We have recently fitted new front and rear wings to our plus 4 1958 car and wondered if like the newer cars there should be rubber spacers. They are fitted 2 off (off side and near side) down by the running board and the front of the adjoining rear wheel arch
Ours currently is just bolted together with 2 bolts

could sandwich some wing beading instead to prevent rubbing and allow a little flex?
Like Dave I would fit at least some spacers with flexible washers.
This joint will flex, and if bolted up too tightly will damage the end plate of the front wing and the face of the rear wing. The early cars (like yours) have only a narrow gap which does not allow the thicker rubber washers of the late cars, so fit the thickest depth washer you can insert and bolt up quite loosely (but with nyloc nuts to ensure they don't come undone)

Rob. You absolutely need to install rubber spacers in between the very rear of your front wings to the lower front corners of your rear wings. It is part of the overall Morgan body structure to have the fenders buffered and tied together in this area. I can provide you with the correct rubber washers if needed. Let me know if I can help.
