Hi ladies and gents
Blew the kids inheritance and bought my first Morgan last August.(a 2015 grey plus 4)

Living the dream and liking it better the more I drive it.

Car does not have over riders or bumpers and I am considering fitting a Librand luggage rack to allow longer trips.

It means the rear valance has to be removed and cut to fix brackets.

Any comments would be welcome, Librand said it was a straightforward installation but my dealer raised his cap and tapped his pipe on the desk (figuratively speaking) and advised its tricky (ie probably expensive) to fit.

Obviously nervous of cutting holes in a 40 grand motor- I am notorious for cutting holes in the wrong place but bulk at the idea of paying too much to fit.

I did remove the tek screws securing the valance but it was not separating from the body easily & I came across wiring for the rear lights so beat a hasty retreat.

Thanks in advance

I've just done it my self see my post .Cutting the slots a bit tricky but not too difficult and nothing is visible once the brackets are fitted .
Took me about two hours all in .A work shop should do it in about an hour .
The most difficult part was threading the bolt through the chassis and getting the nut on behind the spring hanger.
Two small ratchets did the job .

Details in the Morgan photo section.
The rear panel is plastic so easy to cut .

Rear lights can be disconnected easily at the plug connectors, three nuts and bolts at the rear edge and a few self tappers along the front edge remove the spare wheel first as you will need access from in side .
Go on you know you can do it ...just take your time ,measure twice cut once or twice or three times ...
I cut the slot short offered it up then and gradually increased the depth until I had a close fit .

Couldn't you have bought a Mog with a luggage rack to avoid having to go through this painful task ?

I'm wondering about the same rack on mine. I am frustrated that the roadster rack looks so much better. Im tempted to let a dealer fit it for me...

Main problem is price, only Librands do one for no bumpers/overriders at about £600 inc VAT scared

Madmax you are entirely correct.
I did try to get it added to the deal but no luck.
Keith is also dead right, by the time you add delivery £600 is about right.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing but the car was only 8 months and 800 miles.
You pays your money and makes your choice 😀
