I was around 18 when I fell in love with my father in laws 4/4. Had to wait a further 29 years to fulfill my ambition, went for a +8 though.

Now, that is a topic all of it's own. Just how old does a person have to be before they understand the Trad. Morgan?

At 72 I am still puzzled oldgit

No Dave, you are simply bored. After years with the Supermodel of cars in the Lotus, you now find yourself leaning towards a "bit of rough" surrender

Interestingly enough, I was in Williams last week and tried both their Evora 400 and the Aero they have in stock . My reaction was little bit like yours. As a Lotus man ( my latest toy is a red Italian Lotus as far as I am concerned) I was immediatley taken by the wonderful steering and handling of their Evora. It is something special. But to my surprise the car that left the lasting impression was the Aero despite its faults and marginal handling. The obvious conclusion is that faults in a car = character. Maybe thats why Porsches are so boring.

Three months isn't enough to get to know the car, and anyway the major depreciation (if any) is as soon as you drive it off the dealers forecourt.
I'm on my sixth mog minimum ownership of each was two years max ten. The latest a 4.6 engined 1998 plus 8 which I've had for a year and I'm still getting to know its foibles, do try a plus 8 if you can and also a cyclone 3.7 engined roadster. I'm sure you will never regret it.

Comments re needing to own the car longer could well be true and hopefully so.

I've managed to keep my Evora 400 for 7 months now and it still makes me smile each drive. If I can find a "classic" stable mate that does the same, I'll be a happy man smile

I would love an Elan +2 but at near 50 years old now, I'm sure I would be opening a hornets nest trying to find a decent one that was reliable. Also a convertible would be nice for summer.

This is where the Morgan seems to be ticking some boxes. Classic looks and feel, but no restoration needed (albeit a bit of fettling I'm sure)

Whistling will be the head light seal. Go for it you know it makes sense.

Or a new seal. Dead easy to do, but it took me while to find it on my old +4.
