Was he right to have such criticism of Italys 'no ruck' tactics?!

It was very clever use of the laws to stop England playing.... Not a great spectacle i agree, but still legal!

Anyway, I was happy with the end result and am now waiting apprehensively for a tough battle with Scotland!

Strange tactics indeed by Italy, and didn't make for an edifying spectacle. It is clearly an area where the law should be adjusted.

However, it was hilarious, that moment where a puzzled Dylan Hartley asked the ref what to do and Romain Poite had to gently point out that he was the ref & not the coach of the England team.

Mind you, England were pretty awful for much of the game, and if anything were flattered by the final score.

Kudos again to the Jocks for a magnificent performance against Wales. The Calcutta cup is going to be some match this year.

Good solid effort by Ireland against France. Yet again, les bleus looked very curate's egg. Their pack is strong, yet they lost 3 of their lineouts, there are definite issues with the halves too.

Good points! The last three of Englands games have been less than satisfying, despite coming away with the win.

I would say that the next two games for England are going to be tough, and probably a 'real' test of the so called strength in depth.

Jonny may should not be involved and George Fords defence is questionable... IMO of course!!!

Not biased at all! But three of the tries during the game were scored by Exeter Chiefs players. (2 for Jack Nowell + 1 from Michele Campagnaro).

However, an England win and extra delight in seeing the faces of Connor O'Shea and Mike Catt go from laughingly smug in the 1st half, to depressive at the final whistle.

Agreed Budster.. 3 chiefs boys all superb! Slades naughty offload...class!!

Wales might as well have some fun and mix it up a little, same with France, try and bash out a couple of wins! Both young teams though so lots to work on for a few years time!

Any lions recommendations?

I haven't seen the E v I game yet, but the Italian tactics do sound interesting. I was at Murrayfield and Wales were second best by some distance! Doesn't auger well for the Lions tour, either for the number of Welsh players on it or, and perhaps most importantly, the chances of success as they will have to score tries to beat the All Blacks. With Howley as the 'attack coach' (bang head on table) I can't see that happening. Wales were clueless in attack. When we needed some inspiration he takes off SW for JR!!!! Rhys Webb looked to be our best player and other than Liam Williams' try we never really created anything. Scotland looked much better organised in defence and attack and in Hogg they have a much more creative player than anyone in the Welsh side. Having said that, I really enjoying the weekend. Edinburgh is a lovely city.

Rhys Webb is a dangerous and very alert player.... Williams was good, but i think he needs more test match time.
In regards to Howley....I'm afraid he has cost you some points! Also taking Moriarty off against England....Why??!!However, I'm always scared when Wales play as they have the ability to put two or three tries in within 15 mins and that's hard to chase!!
Scxotland and Ireland are big games for us...and TBH its to tough to say it will be England for both (although that's what i hope)

I haven't played rugby for a good many years but it took me only a minute to work out how to cope with Italy's non-rucking tactic. Obviously a little more tricky when on the field of play but they are well paid professional players and should have realised that a 'route one' attack was the best response. It leaves the non-rucking team vulnerable with fewer players in defence.
